Tikkun Olam Makers (TOM) was established in Israel in 2014 and has now established 60 plus communities across 20 plus countries, creating 400 plus unique solutions for individuals living with a disability.
TOM: Melbourne was established in 2016, and has developed a range of programs, including holding Makeathon events, building a developer network, establishing TOM@University and offering STEM workshops in schools
About the role
The primary purpose of this role is:
- To promote the purpose and goals of TOM: Melbourne.
- To manage and execute the operations of TOM: Melbourne in an efficient manner, with due reference to its purpose and goals, and to its Board of Directors.
Tasks and responsibilities include:
- To develop relationships with organisations and other bodies relevant to the organisation
- To further develop fundraising strategies
- To oversee and facilitate events including Makeathons, TOM@University and TOM@Schools
- To manage and supervise a small team of staff and volunteers
- Financial and Administrative management
- Strategic development

Skills and Experience:
- Experience operating in a senior management role in the NFP sector, philanthropic sector, education sector, disability or engineering/ product design sectors
- Growth mindset – experience taking a relatively new NFP/ organisation on the journey of growth and success
- Tactful, resilient and engaging manner
- Operational experience, including managing HR and Finance
- Experience managing staff and volunteers
- Experience reporting to a Board
- The ability to work and relate to all age groups
- A tertiary qualification relevant to the scope and content of the position
- A demonstrated capacity to present in meetings and to speak about the organisation in the public arena
