About the role
The Peer Support Worker will provide peer support to individuals experiencing harm from their own or someone else’s gambling, by listening and offering encouragement, providing practical information about other help available and share useful resources. Where appropriate the Peer Support Worker may also relate useful aspects about their own experience with individuals and groups in ways that assist the determination for others of their own next steps, engage or maintain engagement with help services, and inspire hope of recovery. The Peer Support Worker will also assist as required in the Community Engagement program to raise awareness about gambling related harm.
This is a fixed term contract until 30 June 2021 available on full time or part time basis, based in Deakin, ACT.
To be successful in this role, you are required to possess:
- Lived Experience of and recovery from Gambling (self or other) Harm
- Certificate IV (AQF level 4) in Mental Health, AOD, Mental Health Peer Work, or willingness to undertake
- Sound knowledge of social justice and culturally responsible services
- Demonstrated ability to operate under direction, to set goals and to work to deadlines

Salary & Benefits
The salary on offer is in the range of $70,261.88- $75,160.80 per annum plus superannuation for full time. As a Public Benevolent Institution (PBI), RACR employees also receive tax-effective salary packaging opportunities, thus significantly increasing the value of your take-home pay.
According to the RACR Enterprise Agreement, the successful candidate will have access to generous leave provisions, annual leave loading, special paid leave during annual holiday shutdown period and flexible working arrangements.
