ASLM is a health promotion charity (DGR1) with a mission to improve the health of Australians and New Zealanders through promotion and advocacy of Lifestyle Medicine.  ASLM is operating as a professional society and has initially focused on engaging practitioners in Lifestyle Medicine with a focus on developing education and training, processes and resources for practising Lifestyle Medicine.  We are now ready to embark on the other key aspects of our mission – engaging government, stakeholders and policy makers, and engaging the general public directly.

We are looking forward to welcoming an experienced Philanthropy, Grants, Donors and Campaigns Executive to our small but energetic team of nine, currently all working remotely, but usually based at an office in the inner north of Melbourne.

About the role

Type of role:

  • Contract, remote or in-house, 0.8-1.0 FTE, 12 months initially, KPI based contract extensions, reports to Executive Director

Salary package:

  • $80k-$90k FTE base salary + 9% super + KPI based incentives up to $120k p.a. and full salary packaging available

Purpose of role:

  • Identify, secure and manage new funding sources through philanthropy, grants, donations and campaigns in line with ASLMs mission and strategic plan

Key responsibilities:

  • As this is a new role, develop an operational plan for the role with clear KPIs in conjunction with the Executive Director (ED)
  • Identify, acquire and nurture relationships with philanthropists, trusts, major donors, strategic partners, sponsors and grants managers and build and maintain a database of these
  • Identify, prepare and submit funding applications and proposals, including philanthropic, grants and sponsorship applications
  • Manage and acquit grants received according to contractual obligations in conjunction with the Finance Manager and ED
  • Develop copy for marketing and communication activities to support fundraising activities working with Comms, the EO and EA and Project Leads as required
  • Develop and maintain standard grant and donor pitches and project proposals to use in fundraising activities
  • Develop and manage projects, campaigns or events to support fundraising activities, including stakeholder, practitioner and public facing
  • Develop and manage a workplace giving program
  • Develop and maintain all fundraising systems, processes and policies
  • Participate in events, meetings, working parties, etc as needed – some out of hours work and travel will be required
  • Report on fundraising activities and impacts as required
  • Advise and inform on all the above as needed

Key selection criteria:

Skills, education and/or demonstrated experience in most of the following areas would be an advantage:

  • Existing network of philanthropic/grant relationships and contacts
  • Demonstrated experience in securing philanthropic/grant funding
  • Management of fundraising campaigns, projects, events and relationships
  • Written proposals, grants, briefs and procedures
  • Experience in medicine, healthcare and/or public health sectors
  • Experience in the charity, non-profit and NGO sector
  • Exceptional interpersonal and written skills

  • Adaptable to respond to changing circumstances and environment
  • Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively with other team members
