Organisation Name : Women's Health West

Women’s Health West provides specialist family violence services to women and their children. We also run prevention programs that promote equity and justice for women and girls in Melbourne’s west.

Our work has actively contributed to improving the health, safety and wellbeing of women and their children in the western metropolitan region of Melbourne since 1988.

We welcome applicants from a diverse range of backgrounds and experience, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, people with disabilities, and people who identify as LGBTI.

About the role

Women’s Health West is seeking applications to join our skills based, voluntary Board of Directors. You will be joining the Board at an exciting time as we embark on the organisation’s bold new 5 year strategy.

Our mission at Women’s Health West is supporting women and their children to lead safe and healthy lives, and changing the conditions that cause and maintain inequity and injustice. We do this through the provision of family violence services, health promotion activities and advocacy. We support women in all their diversity to have a greater voice in local leadership and decision making.

As a volunteer board director, you join a diverse and respected group of directors to oversee and support the delivery of Women’s Health West’s strategic goals. As well as attending Board meetings, you will participate in one or more of the Board Committees or working groups. We ask for your passion and commitment to our mission and strategic goals, and your ability to contribute the necessary time and energy to the important work of the Board.

We are seeking board members who will bring to our Board diversity of age, cultural and linguistic background including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, religion, sexuality, ability and life experience. We are also interested in hearing from women who can contribute the following skills and experience:
• strategic leadership and governance skills,
• specific experience in one or more of the following areas:

    • finance,
    • risk management,
    • fundraising,
    • people and culture,
    • feminist advocacy, equity and inclusion,
    • an understanding of our sector
