The Organisation

North Shore Women’s Benevolent Association (NSWBA) began operations in 2016 providing quality refuge accommodation through Mary’s House for women and their children leaving domestic violence.

A second service, the Daisy Centre provides information, advice, referral, case management and therapeutic group work to support women who have experienced domestic violence but do not require refuge accommodation.

NSWBA is completely funded through private and community donations and does not receive government funding. The Mater Hospital in North Sydney is a major partner of NSWBA.  Community engagement is focussed on both fundraising to support operations and raising community awareness to identify and prevent domestic violence.

The position

The Board of the North Shore Women’s Benevolent Association is seeking to appoint a dynamic Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to provide critical leadership in the achievement of services that are client-centred, strengths-based and trauma-informed.

Reporting to the Board, the CEO will represent the organisation and continue raising its profile and engaging with key stakeholders to honour partnerships and donations.  With a dedicated team across two sites, the CEO will lead operations, fundraising, service delivery, governance and financial management. The CEO will support the ongoing professional development of the team to ensure best practice services are delivered to the community, and that policies, procedures and practices are in line with Australian Service Excellence Standards (ASES).

With a strong commitment to the values of NSWBA, the incoming CEO will nurture and sustain a valued essential service and positively influence and build relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders. Working closely with the Board, you will develop and implement a new Strategic Plan. Your highly developed people management skills will be essential in mentoring, motivating and nurturing a small and dynamic team of highly skilled professional staff. You will have excellent business acumen coupled with the ability to identify opportunities. You will exhibit superior interpersonal, advocacy and negotiation skills and be capable of enhancing a positive organisational culture. You will have a strong alignment with NSWBA mission and be able to personify all that the organisation stands for in the public arena.
