About the organisation
Wildlife Conservation International (WCI) is the parent organisation for the three projects: The Orangutan Project, International Tiger Project and International Elephant Project. WCI is an Australian organisation founded in 1998 by Leif Cocks (awarded OAM in 2020 for his work to save Endangered species).
WCI is a small organisation making a big difference in conservation in Sumatra and Borneo. Since its formation, WCI has contributed more than $19,000,000 directly into conservation projects and has earned a reputation amongst its partners and donors for being financially responsible and transparent.

About the role
Part time role: 20 hours per week
This role is responsible for managing a wide range of corporate governance requirements including coordination of the organisation’s risk, policy and compliance frameworks. The role also provides high level secretariat support to key organisation management teams and the Advisory to ensure broader corporate governance requirements are in place and well managed.
Tasks & Responsibilities
Corporate Governance
Company Secretary
- Acting as Company Secretary and providing high level secretarial support to the Directors and Advisory Board
Corporate Governance
- Ensure the company is compliant with all relevant laws and regulations
- Provide advice and assistance with governance issues
- Lead the development of any terms of reference and appropriate governance structures to support objectives
Risk Management
- Manage the risk management framework
- Liaise with risk owners regarding risk management strategies to ensure a risk aware culture
- Coordinate regular risk reports to the Advisory Board
Policy
- Manage the policy framework including coordination of the policy library and document control
- Provide advice to policy owners regarding policy development and implementation
- Develop and manage a governance policy
Compliance
- Ensure the company is compliant with all relevant laws and regulations
- Prepare reports for the Advisory Board as required
Finance Function
- Cashflow forecasting to be prepared on a monthly basis
- Review and improve the design of the general ledger and project cost ledger to enable reliance on MYOB’s reporting functionality.
- Develop a finance manual detailing daily and month end tasks and processes
- Review calculation of payroll related taxes and super to ensure compliance to mitigate risk exposure
- Annual financial audit management
- Business/ Strategic planning with the management team
- Manager and advise on investments
General Administration
- Manage contracts for suppliers and contractors
- Manage State and Federal charity licenses and reporting obligations
- Organise and minute Advisory Board Meetings including, Special General Meetings and the AGM
- Review Business Partner payments and liaise with Philanthropy Manager
Staff Management
- Management the small (4 people) Administration Team
