About the role

  • Part time 0.4 FTE (2-3 days per week) | Maximum term to December 2022
  • Based at Ringwood

About the opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate practitioner to join our Crisis and Homelessness Services Program. The position is part time 30 hours per fortnight, and initially maximum term to 1 December 2022. There is flexibility to work 2 full days per week or 3 shorter days per week.

The Men’s Family Violence Worker provides risk assessment, crisis intervention and case management support to male perpetrators of family violence. The role ultimately aims to keep women and children safe, support the perpetrator to take responsibility for their actions, and assist them to develop strategies to end their use of violence. The worker will also assist clients with sourcing accommodation and referrals to relevant support services where required.

About you

To be successful in your application you will meet the person specification in the position description including having a diploma or degree qualification in a field related to Social Work, Community Services or Welfare Work. Qualifications specific to male family violence will be highly advantageous.

You will also have:

  • Sound understanding of the dynamics of family violence and its impact on women and children
  • Demonstrated experience working with perpetrators of family violence and/or clients with particularly complex needs
  • Highly developed risk assessment and intervention skills
  • Proven ability work collaboratively with other programs and services to achieve optimal outcomes for clients
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
