About the role

The Role:
Part of one of Australia’s oldest and most reputable not-for-profit child safety organisations, we are looking for a dynamic and engaging Child Injury Prevention Project Officer to join our team. We require someone with initiative to work as part of a small, hardworking and passionate team to advocate for and promote child safety and injury prevention in the community.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspecting playgrounds for compliance with Australian Standards
  • Working collaboratively with, and reporting to, key stakeholders
  • Providing child safety and injury prevention information and advice directly to the South Australian public
  • Delivery of accredited training courses in the area of playground safety as required
  • Assisting with organisational and administrative support
  • Development, coordination and delivery of new and existing Kidsafe SA programs and campaigns as required
  • Creation of targeted child injury prevention information for different audiences
  • Identifying emerging project ideas, funding opportunities, campaigns and partnerships
  • Work with and report to management staff to plan programs from start to completion involving deadlines, milestones and processes

Selection Criteria:
Essential:

  • Relevant tertiary degree (Health Science, Health Promotion, Teaching) or relevant experience in community education and health promotion
  • Strong communication and people skills

➢ Confident, engaging speaker with individuals and to large groups
➢ High levels of written communication skills including writing reports, health information, newsletters
➢ Strong stakeholder management skills

  • Excellent organisational, administrative and time management skills including the ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Strong knowledge of IT systems and computers
  • Ability to use own initiative and problem solve
  • Be adaptable and work as part of a small team
  • Ability to work outside business hours as required
  • Ability to travel rurally and nationally

Desired:

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
  • Previous experience delivering education and training to individuals and groups
  • Experience in child injury prevention
  • Knowledge of Australian Standards for playgrounds or similar

Appointment to this position is subject to:

  • A satisfactory child-related employment screening
  • A satisfactory Police Check
