About the role

The purpose of the Global Engagement Department (GED) is to support NROs in delivering a billion acts of courage, liaising with them across mobilisation, fundraising and communications offering specialist advice within these areas. The team provides specialist support to priority National and Regional Organisations, Global Campaigns and Communities of practices to ensure that best practice in this area is captured and implemented.

This is an exciting opportunity for a fundraising professional specialised in high value giving to come to further their experience working at the global level in a fast paced and dynamic team. We are actively seeking candidates from the global South and those looking to take that next step in their career to work internationally.

The Global Engagement Department at Greenpeace International is seeking an Engagement Support Manager to help deliver the engagement strategy and to support our 27 National Regional Organisations (NROs) to develop ambitious strategies for new and diversified supporter engagement, for supporter relationship development, for Open Engagement and Campaigning informed by internal and external best practices.

The Engagement Support Manager will provide training, support and strategic leadership to a number of priority National & Regional Organisations and (global) campaign projects in order to build capacity and deliver ambitious targets.

This is a full-time position, offered for 1 year initially with the strong possibility of extension. You may be based at an NRO (subject to agreement). In this position you will be reporting to the Head of First Engagement or Head of Open Engagement in the Engagement Support Unit at GPI.

A brief summary of your duties will include:

  • Providing input, and contributing to the development, review, and refinement of global and national engagement strategies.
  • Supporting NRO’s in developing internal structures that engage new audiences, deepen existing relationships, and empower the leaderships of highly committed supporters and allies.
  • Support Global and National Campaign team in designing strategies. Provide best practices, tools, and techniques to ensure engaging and audience-centric campaign strategies and consistent capacity building.
  • Capacity building development by identifying learning needs and skills gaps, encouraging new tools and ideas, and creating and pilot learning and training.
  • Build and maintain deep relationships and interconnectedness with our communities of practices.

What we are looking for:

  • Significant (5 years +) expert-level relevant experience.
  • A track record of developing and delivering ambitious engagement strategies and a deep understanding of one or more engagement areas (in particular legacy, high value, major gifts, journey and donor development).
  • Understanding of a range of direct marketing techniques (segmentation, test matrices etc.) and channels (direct mail, digital, direct dialogue, telephone etc.).
  • Good experience in FR/ donor development and retention with some expertise in high-value donors programme.
  • Experience in working with multi-cultural senior staff and teams and across borders.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken).
  • Willingness and ability for frequent travel.
