About the organisation
Started by a group of dedicated female legal practitioners, who were providing free advice to women in need, Central Australian Women’s Legal Service (CAWLS) was formed in the early 1990s and soon grew to a full-time legal service. Now funded by both the Federal and Territory Governments, they deliver a range of holistic, culturally safe, and trauma-informed services across the Central Australia and Barkly regions, including legal assistance/advice and other, specialised support services for those affected by domestic violence.
The CAWLS team is committed to creating a bright and safe future for all women and children, helping them to live free from all forms of violence and abuse. Their vision is to enable, educate, and empower women to better engage in the legal system, so their rights are considered and respected, and in doing so further assist the community to achieve social justice health.
About the role
- Support victims of domestic/family violence with a well-established not-for-profit legal service, supporting women in remote NT.
- Attractive remuneration circa $80,000 – $90,000 plus 10% super, salary sacrificing, relocation assistance and 6 weeks annual leave.

About the Opportunity
Due to recently received funding, CAWLS is looking for a Financial Counsellor to join their team in Alice Springs on a full-time basis.
Reporting to the Managing Principal Solicitor, you will be providing holistic, client-focused and confidential financial counselling to CAWLS clients, with a particular focus on women experiencing domestic and family violence.
The successful candidate will need to hold, be currently studying, or be willing to commence a Diploma of Financial Counselling.
