About the role

The AEF have committed to a growth strategy to increase their national footprint and expanding their customer base and have developed a healthy pipeline of business opportunities. As part of this program of work the AEF have made a decision to insource their Finance function and are now seeking to employ a General Manager, Finance to lead the efficient and effective management of the Finance function. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, this is a hands-on role with the main objective of ensuring that day to day finance activities as well as preparation of annual budgets and forecasts, payroll, cashflows, and monthly performance reporting are completed accurately and delivered in a timely fashion. The role will also prepare the annual financial reports and ensure compliance with the relevant legislation and reporting guidelines.

This role combines the requirement to provide strategic leadership and accurate advice to the Executive Team on business cases and tender preparation, as well as ensuring all finance systems and processes are aligned to AEF’s operations and the various project delivery reporting cycles. The General Manager, Finance will also be a member of the Finance, Risk and Governance Committee and will prepare Financial reports to the Board.

To be considered you will possess a relevant tertiary qualification and ideally be a member of a professional accounting body (ICA/CPA or equivalent). You will be self-motivated, service oriented and flexible in your style and enjoy being hands-on in the daily finance operations. Skilled in all aspects of management and financial accounting, you will have experience working within a project delivery environment and understand the principles and implications of project accounting. Able to work with ambiguity, you will take a pro-active and solution focused approach to your work and will actively contribute to a healthy, positive and accountable workplace culture. Key to your success will be your ability to establish productive working relationships across the organisation and contribute to the broader team with purpose. Previous experience working within a NFP organisation is an essential requirement, whilst a commercial mindset, and an understanding of working with Governments and their funding cycles will be highly regarded.
