Household Manager

Faber House in leafy Parkville is the community home for a number of Jesuits, i.e. members of the
Society of Jesus, an international Catholic religious congregation of priests and brothers who are
committed to the service of Christ and his people. It is also the base for the ministries of a number of
these Jesuits, housing their offices and some small library and meeting rooms. Underpinning this
role is the wellbeing and safety of these Jesuits, and a care for the smooth running of the household
and of the ministry spaces.

Position Objective
The Household Manager is responsible for the everyday running of Faber House.
Position Specific Responsibilities
This overall objective involves responsibility for three main areas:

• Cooking
  o kitchen and dining room management
  o regular cooking for the community
  o arranging for and managing ad hoc kitchen staff as needed
• Cleaning
  o regular cleaning of common areas and some private areas
  o arranging for and managing ad hoc cleaning staff as required
  o manage cleaning supplies and equipment
• Property maintenance
  o carrying out smaller maintenance tasks
  o arranging for and managing tradespeople
  o manage maintenance equipment and supplies

Also, the Household Manager will need to monitor and report on expenditure in relation to budget.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate should have prior experience in the total management of a small commercial
residential establishment like a B&B/Hotel/Hostel or large private home. You should have
demonstrable experience in cooking/catering, domestic cleaning, maintenance management and
financial management.
