Our supporters provide the foundation which allows us to deliver grants, programs, scholarships and kids experiences to ensure no child slips through the gaps.

About the role

The Kids Support Coordinator is responsible for supporting the delivery of the Kids Support Framework to enhance Variety’s position as a leading children’s charity in NSW and ACT. 

At Variety we believe that all kids deserve a fair go, so we support kids 0-18 who are sick, disadvantaged or living with special needs. The Kids Support Framework is a map for how we ensure the funds our community works so hard to raise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinating organisational and individual grants, programs, services, scholarships and kid’s events under the Kids Support Framework
  • Coordinating Variety’s interaction with and understanding of the child/youth sector
  • Reviewing applications and assisting with information and support in completing grants and ongoing management
  • Provide information to families and organisations about support available and events and activities
  • Work collaboratively with all internal and external contacts, to promote the work we do within Variety and externally to gain traction for upcoming activities and strategies

Key Skills

  • High level of computer literacy (knowledge of Blackbaud Grant Making and Raisers Edge would be an advantage).
  • Ideally experience in the support sector and/or not-for profit sector
  • Tertiary degree in a relevant discipline and/or relevant equivalent work experience
  • Proven strong coordination, organisational and administrative skills
  • Well organised, demonstrating an ability to prioritise and project manage.
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to develop trust and maintain flourishing working relationships
  • Knowledge of measuring social outputs and outcomes
  • Executive decision making and accountability.
  • Attention to both detail and a high-level view.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.

  • Passion for making a difference to Aussie kids and their families – empathy and communication skills for families who may be in difficult circumstances
  • High level of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • A demonstrated proactive customer service attitude
  • An ability to show empathy and work sensitively with families whose children we are assisting
  • Demonstrated knowledge of databases and online research tools
  • High level of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines on high profile and results-oriented projects
  • Working with Children Check
