We are a leading organisation offering a comprehensive suite of services to clients and the community across the Barwon, West Melbourne and Wimmera Regions. Providing specialist sexual assault and family violence programs and services, including 24 hour crisis care support, case management, therapeutic counselling, early intervention and professional education and training, we continue to grow and develop our offerings.

About The Role

The Specialist Family Violence Case Manager – Aboriginal, is delivered by The SAFV Centre in partnership with Wathaurong. This position is based in Geelong however you will initially commence working remotely from home due to coronavirus (COVID-19). You must have a confidential space within your home and reliable internet connection to work remotely. No face-to-face appointments will be required with clients whilst working from home unless otherwise specified. 

This role provides intensive support for a 12 week period to women and children who are experiencing or have experienced family violence. It uses a strong understanding of the gendered and complex nature of family violence and evidence based risk factors to continuously asses a client’s risk and safety, while also addressing other support needs identified with the client.

This program is run in collaboration with the Wathaurong Co-operative and aims to provide a cohesive service approach to addressing the needs of local Aboriginal women and children, (particularly those at higher risk) whilst enhancing access to child and family support, health services and justice services for Aboriginal women. This role will provide an innovative and culturally appropriate range of support services that encourages positive engagement of Aboriginal women within the services provided.

About You

With a degree qualifications in social work, psychology or similar discipline, you will be able to demonstrate experience in case management, client advocacy, risk assessment and delivery of accurate and confidential case notes. You have an ability to manage complex and demanding work whilst being highly autonomous. Previous experience building strong relationships in communities is desirable.

The successful candidate will be required to maintain a current Working With Children’s check and National Police Check at their own expense.
