The Australian Clinical Trials Alliance (ACTA) is a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee, established to promote the role of investigator‐initiated clinical trials and clinical quality registries to inform decisions made by health practitioners, policymakers and consumers, to ensure effective and cost‐effective healthcare in Australia. ACTA plays a key role in engaging with the networks, trial coordinating centres and clinical quality registries around the country to seek ways to improve the environment that underpins trials conducted within Australia’s healthcare system.
Reporting to the CEO and managing a small team and external providers, the Communications Manager is responsible for developing and managing the communications, government relations, advocacy and stakeholder engagement strategy to support ACTA’s activities.
The Communications Manager will drive the successful development and delivery of communications strategy and prepare high-quality materials ranging in technical complexity and tailored to diverse audiences including Government, ACTA members, volunteers and committees, clinicians, media, and the general public. You will create a variety of communications including briefings, media releases, reports, newsletters, presentations, speeches and key messages, as well as lead broad activities including management and development of media contacts, copywriting, editing, stakeholder engagement, events, website and social media, and content creation.
This broad and hands-on role requires an experienced and driven communications professional who enjoys working at an operational level but also leading strategy development. You will bring creative thinking, initiative, ability to manage multiple projects and priorities, exemplary communication (both written and verbal) skills and excellent attention to detail. Qualifications in communications, journalism, marketing or public relations are desirable. Experience in a member-based industry association or similar organisation and knowledge of the Australian health sector, particularly clinical trials and research, would be an advantage.
