Who we are
Social Ventures Australia (SVA) is a social purpose organisation that works with partners to improve the lives of people in need in Australia by helping businesses, governments and philanthropists to be more effective funders and social purpose organisations to be more effective at delivering services.

SVA’s Ventures team enables a community of engaged philanthropists, corporate foundations and government to support high impact initiatives that improve the lives of people in need in Australia. SVA believes that as a nation we should harness the opportunities created in our changing economy and labour market to significantly improve the employment prospects of people experiencing disadvantage, particularly those who have been unemployed for long periods. SVA currently has a number of employment-focused ventures that aim to drive improved outcomes for people experiencing disadvantage in the Australian labour market.

The position
This parental leave cover position (max 12 months) sits within a small team that works with partner organisations on employment projects. In the position of Senior Project Manager you will work on one or all of the following project activities:

-Working with organisations to implement the Review for Outcomes toolkit, using participant feedback to drive continuous improvement in employment programs for youth. For more information on our Review for Outcomes work please visit https://reviewforoutcomes.com.au/.

-Working with delivery partners on an ‘action learning’ project that aims to connect young people with apprenticeships, traineeships or other types of ‘skilled pathways’.

-Documenting the experiences of young people and employers and using these to shed light on what needs to happen to promote greater access to employment for those facing exclusion.

This is a hands-on position in a small team, so flexibility and willingness to do whatever needs to be done are essential.

Who you are
We are looking for someone with the ability to critically analyse evidence, ideas and practices, to provide insights into organisational and/or policy challenges, and to identify different possible approaches to these challenges. You will need to be skilled in talking with and listening to young people, employers and social sector leaders. In the position, you will need to be able to confidently present ideas to other people and to influence them to try new things. You will need to be able to write well and use material gathered from program participants to communicate learnings to others.

You will come to the role with good knowledge of labour market programs and experience in managing projects and/or programs in the employment and/or youth sectors. Ideally you will have existing networks with employers, service providers and youth organisations. You will need to be comfortable using survey data to draw out insights into performance and in identifying improvements. You should have an understanding of the principles of impact measurement.

SVA values diversity and encourages applications from candidates of all backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and people of colour. We value people of all abilities and diversity of culture, faith, gender identity and sexual orientation. We welcome unique contributions and perspectives of all people to ensure our workforce is representative of the communities we work with and live in. Workplace adjustments, including part-time work, will be considered.

If you have the experience and knowledge we are looking for and are excited to join our team, please submit your CV (max 3 pages) and a statement (max 2 pages) addressing the person requirements by midnight AEST 15 January 2021.
