About the organisation
Operating since 2013, the Catholic Education Foundation (CEF) is the charity of Sydney Catholic Schools, Archdiocese of Sydney, an institution that has been educating young people in Sydney for 200 years. The organisation is committed to helping families in need to access a quality Catholic education for their children via a bursary program. The Foundation’s mission is to raise sufficient funds to sustain the bursary program as CEF’s vision is that every child from a Catholic family has access to an education in a Sydney Catholic school, and that no child is denied this opportunity due to genuine financial, cultural or social hardship. Corporate partnerships, community grants, as well as an annual fundraising events program and donations all play a pivotal role in raising these much needed funds to continue to sustain the program.

About the role
Reporting to the Executive Director of Sydney Catholic Schools, and working closely with the Board, the Head of Foundation will lead and position the Catholic Education Foundation to build new partnerships and drive revenue opportunities to enable growth. The role involves driving efforts with major donors, foundations, and corporate supporters. It also oversees/plans events and associated activities within Sydney’s diocese at a strategic level – to access funding from high value supporter segments in line with strategic goals.

This role will suit a senior executive with a track record from within the fundraising/philanthropy space. In particular, CEF are looking for a leader who has:

• The ability to think strategically and to execute on a vision, demonstrating strong commercial judgement and a pragmatic approach to getting the job done
• The ability to inspire and lead others, within a team and across an organisation, and to work effectively with multiple stakeholders
• The capacity to evolve in response to emerging opportunities and community needs
• Demonstrated ability to identify business opportunities, cultivate prospects and drive revenue growth
• The ability to manage budgets and analyse results
• An evaluation and learning mindset
• The ability to build authentic relationships with a variety of stakeholders
• An engaging and compelling communication style and is a confident public speaker
• A keen interest in education, sharing values with CEF

This is an outstanding opportunity for a collaborative leader with a strong leadership style, who is strategic and has people management skills gained in the public or the private sector, in an organisation of equivalent size and complexity.  An understanding of the Catholic faith or education network is highly desirable but not essential.
