About the organisation
Thorne Harbour Health is a community-controlled LGBTI organisation, governed by our members, and working for our sex, sexuality and gender diverse communities.
For the past 35 years as the Victorian AIDS Council (VAC), the organisation led the Victorian community’s response to HIV and AIDS. Our work has now moved beyond Victoria and Thorne Harbour Health is responding to a broad range of issues. Thorne Harbour Health aims to improve the health, social and emotional well-being of LGBTI communities and those living with or affected by HIV, with a particular emphasis on bringing the HIV and AIDS epidemic to an end.
About the role
Thorne Harbour has vacancies in its Home Care team for workers in the western and southern regions of Melbourne. This team provides support to clients living with HIV, enabling them to keep living independently in their own homes. It also works with people who have an aged care home support package and clients of the National Disability Insurance Scheme who need help at home or assistance with community participation. The work is flexible, with casual shifts usually over three to four days a week, depending on each worker’s availability. You need to have a Certificate III in Individual Support, Home and Community Care, Aged Care or similar, or to be studying for such a qualification. Workers also need their own car, as some client transport is involved.
