Who we’re looking for
If you’re an Occupational Therapist, experienced with children and qualified with AHPRA, enjoy variety in your day, and working closely with other service delivery professionals, you might be exactly the person we’re looking for!

This position is 0.8 to 1.0 EFT and is funded by the Department of Education under their SRF Allied Health supports initiative. The SRF Allied Health Team will include an Occupational Therapist, Speech Pathologist and Psychologist which will be part of the broader Child and Family Services program at EACH. This position will provide Capacity Building for Kindergartens in Knox, Maroondah and Yarra Ranges for a 3 Year Fixed Term contract, with a possibility of extension.

Experience working in a capability building and coaching role with educators and families to promote skills and knowledge in school readiness and child development would be well regarded. The ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team to develop and implement evidence-based programs that meet the goals and desired outcomes for children, families and educators would be useful. Highly developed communication, networking and interpersonal skills to liaise with a range of people in the education and an understanding of the impact that the priority areas of communication (language development) wellbeing (social and emotional) and access/inclusion have on children’s achievement, wellbeing and engagement and how to measure impact of service, would also be well regarded. As would an understanding of and able to work in alignment with the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF) and the National Quality Standard (NQS) for early childhood education and care. Skill and experience in Group training, coaching and case consultation experience, specifically experience providing professional learning activities for a range of audiences is essential.

What you’ll be doing
A typical day will involve providing 2- 3 direct outreach services to Kindergartens that builds the capability of educators and families. Sessions will include coaching, modelling, mentoring, group training, and consultation to deliver a comprehensive capacity building service to Kindergartens to improve School Readiness outcomes for children.

This is an exciting opportunity for you to work with kindergarten educators and families in kindergarten communities to build their capacity to support young children’s learning in the key areas of communication (language development) wellbeing (social and emotional) and access and inclusion. You will enhance the professional and parenting practices of educators and families, using evidence-based practices from your allied health discipline, to benefit all children they work with or care for. The Occupational Therapist will work in collaboration with educators and families to create an environment for kindergarten aged children that promotes:
• improved speech, language, social interaction and early literacy outcomes
• self-regulation and positive and pro-social behaviours
• social and emotional wellbeing.
You will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with kindergartens and Department of Education and Training area staff to plan for how they will utilise their allied health entitlement and build the capability of educators and families to support children through coaching, modelling, group training, case consultation support and other discipline specific services.
You will be able to travel to kindergartens within the Knox, Maroondah and Yarra Ranges areas to provide allied health support to kindergartens and to families and communities  More information about School Readiness Funding is available at: https://www.education.vic.gov.au/about/programs/Pages/Schoolreadiness.aspx?Redirect=1 

Who you’ll be working with
A typical day would include collaboration within a friendly team with supportive management and positive culture. You will liaise directly with Kindergartens, PSFO Officers, the EACH SRF Allied Health Team, the Child Development Team Leader and other staff.
