Coota Girls is an emerging not-for-profit Indigenous Corporation that was founded in 2013 by a group of former residents of the Cootamundra Domestic Training Home for Aboriginal Girls.

Coota Girls was established to meet the social, emotional and spiritual wellbeing support needs of former residents, their families and descendants who live across New South Wales.

About the role

The Opportunity

This is a fantastic opportunity to work with the Program Manager to contribute to achieving the objectives of Coota Girls by supporting the design, management and evaluation of projects and programs which enable healing from trauma for Stolen Generations survivors and their descendants.

The Role

As the Program and Operations Administrator, you will carry out administrative tasks and functions that enable the efficient and effective running of the of the organisation and its programs.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Contributing to strong, positive, culturally appropriate relationships with Coota Girls stakeholders
  • Organising program, workshop and meeting logistics to ensure effective delivery of Coota Girls programs
  • Responding to requests from the public, including descendants, teachers, researchers and students, for information on their families, or information related to Coota Girls
  • Making travel arrangements for the board of directors and staff team
  • Ensuring the efficient operation of the Coota Girls office including welcoming visitors, ensuring provision of office supplies, and liaising with property managers
  • Monitoring and supporting compliance with external regulatory bodies
  • Supporting the administration of finances including credit card reconciliations, processing of supplier invoices, responding to queries from financial services provider
  • Engaging with IT providers to ensure hardware and software both support efficient operations and data management
  • Ensuring efficient information management in storing, organising and accessing hard and soft copy files

Your Background and Experience

The idea of making a contribution to healing for the Stolen Generations is very appealing to you.

You have sound knowledge or experience of the impacts of trauma experienced by Stolen Generations survivors and their families, and the ability to work in a trauma-informed way.

You pride yourself on strong personal accountability and drive, and you enjoy working autonomously and taking initiative to deliver results.

You will have sound organisational and time management skills to ensure work is appropriately prioritised and completed in a changing environment. You will also be a skilled communicator with a high degree of client service and commitment to make a positive impact

Experience working with Aboriginal communities, particularly Stolen Generations families, and the ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders in a culturally appropriate manner is highly advantageous, as is relevant qualifications and training in business administration.

Suitably qualified and experienced Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander candidates are encouraged to apply for this opportunity.

Mandatory requirements of the role include:

  • Available for occasional travel to support Coota Girls’ operations across the eastern states, and occasional attendance at events or meetings outside regular office hours
  • Undertake and satisfactorily complete a Police Check and Working with Children Check

Salary / Rate

$68K + Super (pro rata) + PBI
