Housing for the Aged Action Group is a member-based community organisation specialising in the housing needs of older people.

The organisation was formed over 30 years ago and today has over 400 members that actively campaign for housing justice.

Our Home at last service is a unique specialist housing service for older people providing information, support, advice and advocacy.

About the role

Join our small organisation and be a part of our fantastic team and the wider Ageing on the Edge network so that we can be the best that we can be in working with older people towards housing justice.  Great conditions, supportive team, satisfying work contributing to changing the lives of older people in housing stress.

We are seeking a versatile and experienced professional to drive systemic change with and for older people at risk of and experiencing homelessness.  You will lead the development and delivery of an advocacy strategy for our national project, the Ageing on the Edge Older Persons’ Homelessness Prevention Project.   Demonstrated experience in government relations and engagement to achieve policy outcomes is essential.

Given the progress of the Ageing on the Edge network in NSW, this position will be located in Sydney as part of the Uniting NSW/ACT Advocacy Team, although due to the COVID-19 pandemic, you will also need the ability to work from home.  You will have high levels of self-organisation, a collaborative approach and can-do attitude.  Knowledge of the housing, homelessness, and aged care systems an advantage.

HAAG is committed to recruiting a diverse range of people with a diverse range of talents to help us achieve our goals. We encourage applications from culturally and linguistically diverse, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals.
