About the organisation
School Profile |
Fountain Gate Primary School is an attractive school that is proud of its achievements within the community and beyond. Many of its families come from far and wide across the globe. To watch all the students work and play together is a great joy. Fountain Gate PS has a dedicated staff team. The school draws students from its residential area in Narre Warren as well as the Fountain Gate South and Hallam Gardens estates. The enrolment at the school is currently 490 students. We are strongly committed to the multicultural diversity of the community we serve. Our school’s Moral Purpose is “To know, inspire and challenge every child every day”.
Our vision states; “Fountain Gate PS is a focused, active learning community where voice, expertise and curiosity are shared with others”.
Consistent teaching and learning models are in place across the school. The school uses the “Gradual Release of Responsibility” instructional model. Vibrant specialist programs are provided from prep-6 in Visual Arts, Physical Education and Maths in Action, F-2 in music and 3-6 in science. Our current Annual Implementation Plan focuses on curriculum planning and building teacher capacity to use data. We believe our approaches personalise learning and lead to improved autonomy and mastery of key skills and understandings.
Students and staff have access to iPad and Apple TV technology, including a “bring your own device” program in levels 5 and 6. Educational research projects are completed in levels 3-6.
We completed Professional Learning Community training in 2017 and are working to embed this framework across the school. At Fountain Gate Primary School there is a consistent and positive approach to student growth which fosters a school climate where personal responsibility and self-discipline are developed. The link between experience, thinking, feeling and behaving is reflected in the school’s formal and informal procedures. “Restorative Justice” is the main vehicle used to maintain positive relationships. At present the buildings consist of a main administration/staff/library core, fourteen permanent classrooms, two galleries (four classrooms surrounding a central learning area) and eight portables. The school has a full size gymnasium. The grounds are large, attractive and well maintained.
