About the organisation
The Magistrates’ Court of Victoria (MCV) is a jurisdiction within the Court Services Victoria statutory authority and has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria in metropolitan and regional courts across the state.
The Court determines in excess of 300,000 cases per annum at 51 venues, equating to approximately 90 per cent of all cases that come before Victorian courts each year. The Court aims to be an innovative, accessible and responsive court that provides quality services to the Victorian community.
The MCV is responsible for delivery of 26 of the 227 recommendations from the Royal Commission into Family Violence (RCFV) and is impacted by the delivery of approximately 100 other RCFV recommendations. The MCV has a strong commitment to improving the safety of families living with violence engaged with the court and working as part of an integrated response. Â The implementation of these recommendations will strengthen the MCV’s capacity to achieve this goal.
The ICCM Program is a new initiative in response to the Royal Commission into Family Violence. The ICCM Program will work closely with the re-developed Court Mandated Counselling Order Program (CMCOP) and other Specialist Family Violence Court (SFVC) components, as well as the MCV Specialist Courts and Programs.

About the role
The Family Safety Practitioner provides advanced assessment and case management for family violence victim-survivors, including children and young people. As the Family Safety Practitioner, you will be responsible to assess client experiences and needs to inform the provision of support, advocacy and risk management. You will work closely as a team with the with the Advanced Respondent Practitioner, to enhance the safety and well-being for victim-survivors.
There is a potential to accommodate mutually agreed flexible work arrangements.
About you
You are passionate about continuous service improvement and providing a responsive and supportive service to family violence victim-survivors.
You have experience in specialist family violence service provision including the application of an evidence-informed response to family violence and support for victim-survivor safety, agency and autonomy.
