About the role

This position is only available for those who identify as a person with disability as allowed under ‘special measures’ of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010, no other applicants will be considered.

The Australian Federation of Disability Organisations, a Disabled People’s Organisation and a National Cross-Disability Peak, represents people with disability and their families, and is looking for an experienced Manager, with highly developed policy and project management skills to fulfil this role. 

Reporting directly to the CEO and part of the Leadership Team, you will be responsible for managing and developing; national systemic policy, submissions and responses to governments, enquiries, committee’s, hearings, legislative or policy changes, etc. with input and contribution from our member organisations along with exisiting and new initiatives or projects in line with AFDO’s Vision, Mission and Strategic Plan. Your role will also include identifying and obtaining funding or alternative funds for implementation as well as seeking fee for service opportunities.

To meet the mark, you must have a minimum of 5 years professional experience in a senior policy role plus experience in a service development role and/or development and management of projects and programs.  Your team includes direct reports of existing key staff and the on-boarding of new project staff as initiatives are funded or commenced. You will also have operational responsibility for the organisation along with the CEO. You will have the ability to manage multiple tasks, set priorities, organise work and achieve objectives within timelines and budget.  

This is a part time role (0.8 EFT) working Tuesday to Friday each week, with an initial 12 month contract and potential for renewal subject to results. We have a remote operating environment and great flexibility along with other benefits. Ideally, we are seeking the candidate to commence as soon as possible.
