We are currently seeking a Transitions Youth Development Worker to join our Glen Waverly Education First Youth Foyer (EFYF). EFYF is an innovative, partnership model to help young people experiencing homelessness build sustainable lives by providing and combining affordable accommodation, education, training and employment. Youth Foyers help break the cycle of homelessness, create opportunities, and help young people lead independent and fulfilling lives.
As a Transitions Youth Development Worker, you will act as the main point of contact for coordination and implementation of transition plans for students pre and post the Foyer Program whilst building and maintaining relationships with local real estate agents and other services that can offer post-foyer support if needed. Sourcing and securing private rental for foyer students will be achieved through working with the students throughout their stay to advance their housing and living skills and to develop a transitions plan.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated experience in working in youth programs and an understanding of the challenges that face young people of this background. You will have an unwavering belief in young people, be an outstanding role model to fellow staff as well as the students living at the Education First Youth Foyer, and recognise that education is essential to breaking the cycle of homelessness.
Working in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team that uses innovative education and housing practices, this exciting and challenging position offers applicants the opportunity to build and empower the lives of youth experiencing homelessness.
