About the role

  • Temporary part-time 0.4 EFT up to September 2023
  • $69,671 to $80,370pa (pro rata) plus super

We are looking for a dedicated and experienced person with qualifications in health promotion to work with children and young people to identify their health and wellbeing aspirations.

As the Children and Young People First Project Officer, you will be responsible for the delivery of the Central Goldfields Shire Council and VicHealth Partnership project. This will involve co-designing health and wellbeing outcomes with children and young people, supporting capacity building through systems thinking training provided by Deakin University, and implementing the health and wellbeing priorities identified by children, young people and stakeholders.

You will plan, support, coordinate and deliver engagement activities to ensure high levels of participation by children and young people. You will do this by working closely with key partners and creating environments that encourage and empower children and young people to participate in decision-making. Using an evidence-based approach, your aim will be to ensure that the health and wellbeing priorities address the health inequities experienced by our children and young people.

Working within the multidisciplinary Community Partnerships team, you will contribute to a culture that fosters customer first, collaboration, and innovative thinking and approaches to service delivery.

You will have a Degree or Diploma in Health Promotion, Public Health, Sociology, Community Engagement or similar and\or less formal qualifications with relevant experience working in these sectors. You will have experience in developing and implementing health and wellbeing priorities using participatory and inclusive decision-making approaches, proven ability in negotiating and developing positive working relationships, and excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to confidently and professionally communicate with a range of stakeholders.

You will be required to work outside of the normal spread of hours, which may require some weekends, to ensure the appropriate delivery of this project.

The role is offered on a temporary part-time basis until 30 September 2023 which is when the funding ends.
