The Organisation
Suicide Prevention Australia is the membership based peak body working to build a stronger suicide prevention sector, a more aware and engaged community, and a more effective regulatory and funding environment. Suicide Prevention Australia engages with member organisations, governments, businesses, researchers, practitioners and those with lived experience seeking to reduce the impact of suicide on the community. Suicide Prevention Australia has a Sydney based head-office but you could work virtually from anywhere.
The Role
This role supports both the membership and communication functions overseeing the implementation of the communication’s strategy ensuring consistency of message and the reinforcement of Suicide Prevention Australia’s value proposition. Crucially, fostering relationships with key sector stakeholders, in particular members is a key feature of the role. The other areas of responsibility are;
- Collateral development and content generation
- Media relations and monitoring
- Social Media & events marketing
- Membership and internal communication
Skills Required
You are an accomplished communications professional with a broad skill set and an ability to combine strategic, creative and analytical thinking and hopefully a flare for design. You’ll have strong writing skills delivering quality content for diverse audiences. You will be required to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously working collaboratively with Suicide Prevention Australia teams. Ideally your experience includes:
- Advocacy campaigns and an understanding of the political environment
- Media and stakeholder management experience
- Developed decision making skills and thoughtful judgment
- The ability to work under high pressure and juggle competing demands
