About the opportunity
The Family Services Program supports families who are experiencing high levels of stress and difficulties that impact on parenting, family life and children’s well being. Responding to referrals from Child FIRST, the program provides assertive outreach and home based supports.
As a Group Work Practitioner you will research, develop and facilitate engaging evidence-based group work activities for vulnerable families in need. The Practitioner will be responsible for evaluating group work programs and actively contributing to program development and innovation. The role will also provide specialised support and training to other staff in group work models.
To be successful in your application you will meet the person specification in the position description, including having a relevant degree qualification in Social Work, Psychology or a related discipline.
You will also have:
- Demonstrated experience in group facilitation
- Proven ability to engage individuals and families in a group context
- A commitment to the family strengthening and empowerment models of practice
- Capacity to work flexibly and innovatively to meet the needs of families, children and young people
- Well-developed communication skills, both written and verbal
