About the opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for two experienced social workers to join our multi-disciplinary team at The Orange Door. The Orange Door Program brings together workforces from Community Service Organisations, Aboriginal Services, Family Safety Victoria and DFFH, to deliver an integrated practice model and a consolidated intake point for:

  • Women, children, young people and families who are experiencing or have experienced family violence
  • People who use violence
  • Families requiring support with the care, development and wellbeing of unborn babies, infants, children and young people

The Support and Safety Hub Practitioner works as part of an integrated team to deliver high quality, safe and effective responses to Victorian women, children and families seeking support and safety through the Hub. The Practitioner will also focus on the perpetrators of family violence, assessing risk and holding their behaviour to account.

About you

To be successful in your application you will meet the person specification in the position description, including having a tertiary degree in social work, psychology or a child & family welfare related discipline.

You will also have:

  • An understanding of the Best Interests Principles, Children, Youth & Families Act 2005, and Family Violence Protection Act 2008
  • Extensive experience as a practitioner within the child, youth and family welfare sector
  • Well-developed risk assessment and risk management skills
  • A family-centered and family strengthening approach to case management
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
