The Team
The External Relations, Development and Alumni portfolio (ERDA) works collaboratively across the University to initiate, grow and steward strong person to person relationships with key stakeholders that support Monash University’s research and education endeavours. Our work delivers outcomes that significantly enhance the University’s profile and resources. The launch of the Change it. For good. Campaign, with goals of raising $500m from 50,000 donors and doubling the number of bequests made to the University, signals a new scale of ambition for the University to inspire our community to effect positive and lasting change through Monash. The division sits within the Office of the President and Vice-Chancellor.
To fulfil our mission, ERDA oversees a ranges of activities including alumni relations, communications, fundraising, external engagement, donor programs, and community engagement activities for the University, nationally and internationally.
The Opportunity
Play a crucial role in supporting fundraising goals across the Science, Information Technology, Engineering and Monash Sustainable Development Institute (STEM) portfolio, as part of Monash University’s ground breaking Change it. For Good philanthropic campaign, enabling transformational educational opportunities and research of impact.
You will:
- Build meaningful relationships with donors, cultivating, and soliciting donor contributions for the Faculty alongside University wide priorities
- Develop and implement comprehensive donor engagement plans ensuring alignment with Faculty and University objectives
- Take responsibility for the building and managing of relationships with a portfolio of current and prospective donors capable of making up to six figure gifts
- Work collaboratively with Development colleagues, wider External Relations, Development and Alumni Engagement (ERDA) staff, Faculty leadership and other University representatives
While this role is part of the ERDA team you will also spend a significant amount of time working directly with the STEM Faculties.
You will bring to this role your outstanding interpersonal skills and your ability to collaborate effectively as you will be required to forge effective relationship with academic leaders and Faculty colleagues and engage and work with senior level staff, donors, and volunteers.
As the Development Associate, you will also communicate and collaborate well with other colleagues in the University’s Development team. You will have a proven track record of thriving in a fast-paced and goal-oriented environment.
Utilising your outstanding communication skills you will take responsibility for researching and producing a range of materials in support of portfolio fundraising goals including cases for support, briefing notes, and letters from Deans as well as contributing to donor stewardship reports and donor stories and profiles.
This role is a full-time position; however, flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.
