Cancer Council SA is the state’s leading cancer non-government organisation dedicated to reducing the impact of cancer for all South Australians. It achieves this by undertaking and funding high quality cancer research, raising awareness in the community about the lifestyles factors which contribute to cancer and by supporting people affected by cancer.

The organisation has four strategic objectives:

  • Support – supporting people with cancer, their families, carers and friends
  • Prevention – improving wellbeing and preventing cancer
  • Research – building SA cancer research capacity in SA
  • Building Capacity – ensuring we have the financial, human resource, and technological capacity to deliver on our vision.

You will truly establish and embed yourself within Adelaide, South Australia and within Cancer Council Australia as a contemporary executive leader in the sector, raising brand and reputation and forging collaborative and mutually beneficial relationships and partnerships with diverse stakeholder groups. Concurrently, you will drive the development and delivery of the strategic plan, operational plan and organisational policy while providing visionary and inclusive leadership to the organisation, empowering and enabling a values-driven, motivated and high performance culture.

As the face of the organisation you will bring highly developed interpersonal and engagement skills with the ability to advocate for people affected by Cancer and to quickly form credible and respectful relationships with a broad range of stakeholders, including but not limited to, all tiers of government, regulatory bodies and the community as well as with your board and your staff. You are recognised for your strategic, results orientated approach and you hold formidable financial and governance skills with the ability to work successfully with complex funding models and changing funding priorities.

This is an exciting opportunity for a values driven executive leader to take the helm with a fresh approach to find the best outcomes for the South Australian community.
