About the organisation
About the role
- Drive change and leave a legacy leading this community organisation rich in history
- Deliver on a bold and exciting new strategic plan
- Partner with an engaged and highly skilled Board committed to the community
The Fitzroy Legal Service (FLS) is an amalgamation of the Darebin Community Legal Centre and Fitzroy Legal Service. FLS has drawn on the significant histories and legal services provided by both organisations dating back to 1972. Celebrating its 50th anniversary next year, it is an exciting time to be part of a committed and talented organisation under the leadership of the highly engaged and professionally skilled Board, who have recently set a bold new strategic plan. With a commitment to making a meaningful difference, the organisation continues to work towards a fairer and more just Victorian community, one in which the legal and broader social system supports equality and justice. Critical to this is the guiding values of the organisation: integrity, courage and passion, empowerment and advocacy, and connection to community.
As the Chief Executive Officer you will work in partnership with the Board to continue to build upon the strong foundations of the organisation. You will be responsible for implementing and executing a new strategy and providing a clear direction for the future. You will play an integral role in increasing the public profile of FLS through advocacy, community engagement and partnerships. You will further build financial stability by ensuring funding efforts are maintained and improved, and diversification of funding is enhanced through activities such as philanthropy. Leading a highly skilled and passionate team you will encourage an inspiring and cohesive culture where people are valued and developed.
Key to your success in this role will be your demonstrated leadership experience, having led multidisciplinary teams in diverse service environments. Your values are aligned with FLS and you bring a passion and commitment to supporting the community. A familiarity of the legal / community legal sector would be beneficial but not essential in this role. More important is your proven track record delivering on a strategic plan and ability to advocate and develop relationships with a range of key stakeholders both internally and externally. Motivated by this opportunity to drive change and create a legacy, including celebrating FLS’s 50th Anniversary next year, you will play an integral role in ensuring FLS can lead the way in changing the system and provide ongoing support for the community for years to come.
