The Organisation
Suicide Prevention Australia (SPA) is the membership based national peak body working to build a stronger suicide prevention sector, a more aware and engaged community, and an effective regulatory and funding environment.
Suicide Prevention Australia engages with member organisations, governments, businesses, researchers, practitioners and those with lived experience seeking to reduce the impact of suicide on the community.

The Role
Reporting to the CEO, you will develop and drive Government, business and community advocacy and engagement whilst having overall management responsibility for policy, submissions and activities to ensure organisational relevance and thought leadership.
You will be attuned to and have a focus on external changes that impact the strategic direction of SPA and its members, funding, positioning, marketing and partnerships. You’ll also contribute to internal functions including annual planning, budget and project management to ensure ongoing alignment with SPA’s vision, purpose and strategy.
Skills Required
You are an energetic and proactive leader, with specific experience in and knowledge of strategic policy planning, processes and development. You bring high level government relations and advocacy skills including negotiation, facilitation and networking.
Additionally, you have a successful track record in;
- Developing and maintaining a diverse range of stakeholder relationships
- Managing and inspiring a small, highly skilled team
- Researching and writing submissions, reports and papers
- Strategic planning to identify & critically evaluate advocacy tactics
