As Australia’s largest independent community foundation, Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation inspires philanthropy to create positive social change.
Annually, the Foundation provides grants of more than $12.249 million to not-for-profit organisations throughout Melbourne to increase life opportunities and promote social inclusion.
Our grants program supports Impact Areas including Education & Employment, Environment & Sustainability, Healthy & Resilient Communities, Homelessness & Affordable Housing, and Inspiring Philanthropy.
At Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation we encourage and inspire our community to participate in philanthropy. Our donor opportunities include gifts in wills, charitable fund accounts, giving circles and giving accounts, as well as donating to fundraising appeals.

Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation Board is a volunteer-based Board that is values aligned, diverse and skilled. Four Board positions will become vacant for appointment at the Foundation’s Annual Meeting in October 2021 of which three Board members are seeking reappointment. The Foundation strives to have a Board that illustrates cultural, age, gender and linguistic diversity, coupled with expertise and sound governance skills, to reflect Melbourne’s broader community.
The Foundation is seeking suitably qualified Board members with competencies and credentials in the following skills area: climate change mitigation and adaptation (policy and practice).
You will work alongside other honorary, professional Board members, with a sense of purpose, and help lead Australia’s largest independent community foundation that influences and supports positive social change through innovative philanthropy.
Please outline your credentials in responding to climate change mitigation or adaptation, combined with demonstrated expertise in social innovation, collaborations and philanthropic giving, to explain how you could contribute to the strategic vision and plan of the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation. We encourage emerging Board members with cultural diversity to apply.
