Description:

This is a rare and important opportunity to lead an organisation committed to best practice research and application to cancer prevention, treatment, and support.

As the CEO you will have the opportunity to lead a dedicated team of professionals while empowering the team to do what they do best. You will work with a supportive skills-based Board to ensure the strategic direction of the organisation is clear and maintained and ensure it continues to serve the overall values and ethos on which the business was built.

You will play an integral part in leading, supporting, and growing some of the most recognised charity days in the calendar such as Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea, Daffodil Day, and the Canberra Relay for Life. You be able to feel tangible results from the success of these events through the services the CCACT provide, such as the Cancer Council Wig Service, Living Well with Cancer and Tackling Tobacco to name just a few.

The Role

As the CEO you will be a visionary leader with demonstrated experience in executing strategic objectives around innovation, change and growth.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing inspired leadership to the organisation at both the secretariat and board levels
  • Leading the organisation to achieve the strategic direction
  • Building alliances and partnerships with other organisations
  • Providing support to the Board and Board Committees
  • Undertaking regular risk management analyses and implement strategies
  • Overseeing the organisation’s fiscal activity
  • Overseeing fundraising planning and implementation
  • Reinforcing CCACT’s position in the marketplace as the leading cancer charity in the ACT

 

Your Background and Experience

The successful candidate will have a background in public health with a strong knowledge of cancer control, supported by senior executive experience. With relevant tertiary qualifications, you will have demonstrated experience in responding to community‑wide public health or related challenges through your work in fields such as research, prevention, treatment, policy and program development and support.

As a confident and influential communicator, you can demonstrate values consistent with those of the Cancer Council. You will understand the business of government and how to achieve success.

You will be a highly effective communicator with a strong focus on integrity and empathy while providing strong leadership with the ability to inspire and encourage a positive culture among staff.

Salary / Rate

$150K – $170K + Super + PBI + Car Parking
