The Opportunity

A new opportunity now exists to join Wyndham CEC’s Training Services Unit. This newly created role will report directly to the CEO and play a key leadership role as part of the senior management team. The Director of Education will be responsible for the management of all education and training programs and projects within the Training Services Unit (TSU).

The Director will also contribute to the vision of the organisation shaping the organisation’s future education and training offering by participating in organisational strategic planning and business planning activities.

As the successful candidate your responsibilities will include:

  • leading and managing a complex set of education programs, services and staff working across pre-accredited, foundation skills, VCAL and vocational programs
  • ongoing program activities of TSU and their ongoing performance and evaluation
  • identifying new programs and services to ensure sustainability of the unit
  • developing, implementing and managing annual program budgets
  • meeting all program compliance and regulatory requirements
  • developing and maintaining a diverse range of stakeholder relationships, advocacy skills and represent the organisation when required

About You

The successful applicant will have relevant tertiary qualifications and substantial demonstrated success in a senior management role including a minimum of five-years of relevant experience.

You will have exceptional leadership and people management skills and excellent conceptual, analytical and cognitive skills including high attention to detail, and the ability to identify emerging issues and potential risks within a complex organisation.

You will be able to demonstrate the ability to develop and maintain high level stakeholder relations and professional networks.

Selection Criteria (applications must address all selection criteria)

The person for this position will have:

  1. Demonstrated experience in a senior management role in a complex organisation (minimum 5 years).
  2. Demonstrated competency in strategic planning, business development and compliance in an education and training role including ability to manage government funding contracts and associated KPIs.
  3. Demonstrated evidence of consistent success applying for government or philanthropic funds for programs and services (must demonstrate success across at least a five year period).
  4. Experience managing change, including organisational change to achieve efficient and effective practices, meet the goals of the organisational strategy and ensure ongoing sustainability and relevance to target cohorts.
  5. Demonstrated ability to work within and across networks and form strong partnerships including high level skills in government relations, stakeholder relationships and advocacy.
  6. Demonstrated ability to develop and manage budgets to meet revenue targets.
  7. Excellent analytical, investigative and cognitive skills and the ability to identify emerging issues and risks and create strategic responses to emerging trends and opportunities.
