About the organisation
At Lutheran Care, we believe our communities are stronger when each and every person feels included and cared for.
Founded 50 years ago on the principles of the Lutheran Church, we have always been champions of advocacy and equity, serving the needs and fighting for the rights of those who have fallen through the cracks of the system. Ours is a powerful and persistent voice for the voiceless.
We deliver a range of services across South Australia and the Northern Territory which aim to empower and support some of the most vulnerable people in our communities.
About the role
- Make life better for children with an iconic organisation that celebrates your successes
- Embrace our continuous focus on learning, development and upskilling plus plenty of support
- Enjoy salary packaging options and generous leave in addition to your competitive take-home pay
Advocate. Mentor. Advisor. Liaison. Case Management is a delicate balancing act – and you? You do it with aplomb.
After all, you are empathetic; that’s a given. But you’re also pragmatic: you have the ability to see that crucial bigger picture. You’re meticulously organised and your high-level communication skills see you negotiating difficult and challenging situations with poise, clarity and respect.
Your background in Social Work and Foster Care Services paired with your intimate knowledge of Child Protection legislations and complex family cases will serve you well in this role. You value friendship, compassion, humor, hard work, justice and hope. But most of all, you’re driven by one mission: to create a world where all children live happily in a safe and caring environment. Everything you do feeds into that one goal.
Which is why we’ll get along great.
We have an outstanding opportunity for a Foster Care Case Worker to join a well-respected and longstanding not-for-profit faith-based organisation, whose focus it is to empower our team with high level support to ensure we deliver positive outcomes for our foster carers and children in care.
Joining this organisation as a Foster Care Case Worker, you’ll be in the driver’s seat, advocating for both Generalist and Specialist foster families to provide a therapeutic family environment to children and young people. You will be dedicated in providing stable placements for children and providing
the support and training needed for our carers to facilitate environments where our children and young people will thrive.
You will thrive in this next chapter of your career as you:
- Provide case work through asessment, training, support, placement and advocacy
- Maintain regular contact through telephone, email, video conferencing and home visits as per agency guidelines
- Work collaboratively with families and members of the care team to ensure access to appropriate information, training and services for children in care
- Consult and liaise with relevant stakeholders as required in the foster care approval process
Could you be the perfect addition to this high-performing team?
If so, you will have extensive knowledge and experience in Case Management and your intimate knowledge of the effects of trauma and abuse, attachment issues and behaviour management will serve you well in this role. You will also be tertiary-qualified and comfortable in working independently to ensure we’re continuously driving positive outcomes.
You also have an open Driver’s license (but don’t worry, you’ll have a kilometre allowance to take care of any travel expenditure) and if you’ve got a Working With Children Check, Safe Environments for Children and Young People and First Aid certificate, that’s a bonus.
In exchange for your hard work, the rewards are great. That competitive salary will be yours, along with enviable options for salary packaging. But that’s not what you’re here for. At the end of the day, your greatest reward will be in the knowledge that you’re supporting foster parents in providing a safe and loving environment for children and improving their life experiences and futures.
Social Justice, Compassion, Inclusion and Commitment
If these values are true to you and your passion to help create better lives for those that really need it, then we would love to hear from you!
