About the organisation
Welcome to cohealth. We're a passionate bunch and we strive to have a workforce that reflects the diversity of the community we're serving, as we know that makes us a stronger and better-performing
organisation
About the role
If you are a person who is truly looking to make an impact and you want to help break down the barriers of stigma and discrimination that our homeless community faces every day, then this your chance to lead from the front and be a part of the solution!
We are currently looking for an extraordinary professional to join our team in a part time capacity as a General Practitioner for the Street Doctor Program.
About You
You’re an out-of-the-box thinker, you challenge the status quo and you’re ready to bring healthcare to the people that desperately need it, and provide a wraparound, holistic support service to members of the homeless community.
This is an incredible opportunity to bring your passion and experience to a program designed to help disadvantaged people who really need it.
The Street Doctor Program is an assertive outreach medical service, provided on a bus located in Melbourne CBD, staffed by a GP, Nurse, and Social Worker. This program sits within the Homelessness Cluster, and aims to deliver values-based care to improve the health, wellbeing, housing, and social outcomes of people experiencing homelessness in Melbourne.
As a GP for our program, this role involves both in-clinic and on-street services, spending 2 days a week at Central City Community Health Service. You will provide a range of services on-street via the Green
Cross Bus, varying according to local need but these may include refugee health, drug and alcohol services, mental health, paediatrics, allied health and occupational medicine as well as general family
health. Providing this service, you will be able to build trust with patients and if needed, offer them further support in the clinic.
Once in clinic, we have a wraparound, holistic approach, working together as a team when needed to support our patients. This is a hands-on, get stuck-in, non-traditional GP opportunity,
and as such, needs an equally incredible professional to take on the challenge!
You will need relevant training and qualifications, as recognised by the RACGP, and professional registration with the Medical Board of Victoria. You will also need sound knowledge of health and social issues and referral pathways for people who experience homelessness, and demonstrated ability (not to mention passion) to work with people who are disadvantaged
