Who we are

Social Ventures Australia (SVA) is a not-for-profit organisation that works with partners to alleviate disadvantage – towards an Australia where all people and communities thrive. We influence systems to deliver better social outcomes for people by learning about what works in communities, helping organisations be more effective, sharing our perspectives and advocating for change.

The Fundraising and Partnerships team is responsible for all elements of fundraising at SVA and for the management of select strategic partnerships. Specifically, the team works to raise income for programs within the Ventures team and others across SVA, as well as discretionary income to support the work of SVA.

SVA’s work that is supported by fundraising and partnerships typically consists of innovative, complex, multi-year programs in partnership with diverse actors across the social sector, including non-profit service delivery organisations, think tanks, research institutions, government agencies, community-based organisations, community leaders among others. We believe in our work and the potential impact it contributes to at scale while recognising the challenge this work can present for traditional fundraising approaches. Consequently, we have a Fundraising and Partnerships team that likewise strives to be innovative and inspirational in its approach to fundraising.

The position

In this role you will be responsible for managing SVA’s mid-level donor program, generating income for the work of SVA and ensuring our donors and key relationships are appropriately cultivated and nurtured. This includes the management of a portfolio of Philanthropic donors, meeting set KPIs and financial budgets; and leading the SVA Champions program by designing and implementing a suite of tailored initiatives for SVA supporters to engage with the work of SVA.

Who you are

If you have a passion for working in the social sector, are collaborative, driven by excellence and with proven success in the delivery of fundraising growth and retention strategies, this is the role for you!

You will come to the position with demonstrated experience in philanthropic fundraising, relationship management of high net wealth individuals and management of a giving circle or mid-level donor program.

We’re looking for someone with a strong understanding of, and passion for, working on society’s most important challenges; demonstrated success across the full major gifts cycle – identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship; as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively connect heads and hearts and increase revenue.

Commercial acumen, commitment to continuous improvement, creative thinking and a growth mindset are essential.

This role calls for current knowledge of the philanthropic landscape in Australia and deep networks in NSW. You will work within a growing and highly committed team with wide-ranging experience across the social sector. You will forge close and long-lasting relationships with inspiring supporters, sector leaders, colleagues, and stakeholders, which provides a great foundation for professional growth and development.

SVA values diversity and encourages applications from candidates of all backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and people of colour. We value people of all abilities and diversity of culture, faith, gender identity and sexual orientation. We welcome unique contributions and perspectives of all people to ensure our workforce is representative of the communities we work with and live in.

If you have the experience and knowledge we are looking for and are excited to join our team, please submit your CV (max 2 pages) and a statement (max 1 page) addressing the person requirements by midnight AEST 25th July 2021.
