About the organisation
About the role
In partnership with the Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (VACCHO), two exciting new roles have opened up for Community Engagement Trainees in Djirra’s Community Engagement team. These two positions have been established for the purpose of creating an Aboriginal Traineeships Program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people working in Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation services (ACCOs). This program is known as the VACCHO Traineeship Program.
The program will provide training, support, cultural mentorship, and supervision to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people living in Victoria to complete an accredited, entry-level qualification whilst gaining on-the-job experience in a workplace.
Djirra’s Community Engagement team runs a range of cultural and wellbeing workshops across Melbourne and regional areas and the Koori Women’s Place provides wrap-around support and works to build trusting relationships with Aboriginal women through our shared connection to culture.
The Community Engagement trainees will be the first point of contact and welcome for Aboriginal women accessing Djirra and will provide supervised administrative support to the Community Engagement team.
