About the organisation
Housing for the Aged Action Group is a community-based organisation specialising in the housing needs of older people. The organisation was formed just over 30 years ago and today has over 500 members that actively campaign for housing justice.

Our Services: Home at Last
Home at Last is a unique specialist housing service for older people, providing information, support, advice, and advocacy. This includes:
- State-wide Information and Referral – providing support to over 1000 older people a year with information on housing options, referrals to housing support and other services.
- Outreach Case Management Support – a service for older people on low-incomes who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, to assist them into long-term affordable housing (mainly social housing). Assistance includes housing applications, support during moving, establishing a new home and referrals into aged care and other supports. We house over 100 people a year, 60% of them women.
- Retirement Housing advice and advocacy – specialist information, support and advocacy for people interested in, or living in, retirement housing. This includes lower cost retirement villages, residential parks, rental villages, and caravan parks.
- Aged Care Service Navigation – assistance to register for aged care services
About the role
Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of older people? Join our housing support team providing information, referral and support for older people seeking long-term affordable and secure housing. Great conditions, supportive team, satisfying work contributing to changing the lives of older people in housing stress.
We are seeking an enthusiastic housing support worker to join our intake and referral team at Home at Last. You will be providing over the phone and face to face information and referral to older people across Victoria. You will have high levels of empathy for older people in stressful housing situations and a professional manner with service providers. A componenet of this intake position includes managing referrals received via the My Aged Care service system.
Knowledge of the social housing sector, the aged care service system and the health or community services sector is desirable. Experience in working within community member-based organisations will be an advantage.
In the event of further COVID-19 lockdowns, there will be no face-to-face work with clients and you will need the ability to work from home.
