About the organisation

Organisation Name : Ramahyuck

Ramahyuck was established as an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation in 1992, and has grown to be a leading provider of primary health care and related social and family support services to Aboriginal people and Communities across the Gippsland region of Victoria. Their primary health clinics, family and social and emotional wellbeing programs specialise in culturally appropriate and holistic health and wellbeing services for Aboriginal people while also providing much needed GP services to the non-Aboriginal population.

About the role

  • Career Opportunity with variety and challenge
  • Make a “REAL” impact on the community
  • Active involvement in new Executive Team

As the new General Manager of Clinical Services you’ll be based in the Sale Head office, reporting to a new CEO. This critical role will be an integral member of the executive team, being an ambassador for the ongoing positive business culture, implementing the strategy, and contributing to the overall development of the Corporation into the future.

You will have direct responsibility for the clinical function which is the largest department of the Corporation, including General Practise Clinics, Dental Clinics and a number of specific funded health programs such as Mental, Child, and Maternity Health, and Chronic Disease Management.  You will be responsible for managing the clinical operations across the region, inclusive of setting and managing budgets and expenditure along with the required timely and accurate reporting. You will understand that your success will be measured by your effectiveness in managing the large and diverse team, ensuring they are well equipped and engaged to meet the needs of a growing and changing health environment, all contributing to positive patient outcomes, and community expectations. This will be underpinned by your leadership in the continual capability improvement of the team through development programs, training, and recruitment across all sites. Equally as critical is your understanding and depth of knowledge around compliance, quality and risk management in the provision of health services, navigating changes and leading the development and ongoing improvement of aligned processes and procedures.  This will be reinforced with your professional presentation style and strong communication capability, being able to deliver specific messages effectively and appropriately to a number of different levels and audiences.

It is very important, you have a good level of understanding of Aboriginal culture, and related health services environment, where you interact with other external agencies and departments to ensure that the community health needs are recognised, and well represented to maximise positive outcomes.  As the current business model is largely built on a range of Government funding, it is desirable you have an understanding of the relevant funding models, where you can report as required and contribute to the application process when appropriate. You will also lead the business in growing the Medicare and dental fee contributions to build further self-reliance.

I am seeking someone who can hit the ground running so experience is essential, more than likely you will come from a similar role in Practise Management, Health Management and possibly Remote Nursing, in a  community based corporation, smaller health services business, or Public Health sector.

It is expected you will be tertiary qualified in Nursing or a Public Health  discipline, and potentially post graduate studies of possibly Master of Public Health, or similar.
