About the organisation
Health Issues Centre is the peak consumer health advocacy body in Victoria. We seek to deliver positive health outcomes with and for consumers by influencing health policy, service design and health and medical research. HIC relies on deep and broad engagement with consumers, with an emphasis on those who are most vulnerable and marginalised, to inform its policy positions and priorities.
About the role
HIC represents consumer perspectives in responding to government policy initiatives but also takes a thought leadership position on priority emergent issues as identified in consultation with communities of interest.
This new role will build and manage a Policy and Advocacy team that will include policy, advocacy and comms specialists. Its purpose is to ensure that HIC maximises its impact on decision making processes on behalf of the consumer community.
HIC’s current focus includes considering the impact of the digitisation of health on data security, access and equity, and the need for system adaptation to prepare for emerging population health threats such as those posed by zoonotic pandemics and climate change.
