About The Role
The Primary Prevention Officer is responsible for planning, developing and delivering initiatives to raise community awareness and promote and progress gender equality and the prevention of violence against women.
In this role you will:
- Plan, develop and deliver primary prevention initiatives in the community.
- Raise awareness of the drivers of violence against women and family violence, and actions to prevent this violence from happening
- Ensure primary prevention work is aligned with business unit plan and strategic directions of organisation.
- Build on our feminist intersectional approach to primary prevention
- Support the development and review of prevention focussed training materials and capacity building resources and support delivery of relevant training as a co-facilitator
- Engage with stakeholders, build connections, co-facilitate as appropriate, share knowledge to influence practice a
- Design and deliver presentations and public speaking
About You
You have an informed and comprehensive understanding of the social and economic determinants of violence against women and of the evidence based prevention framework, settings and approaches. You have a proven ability to provide specialist knowledge and subject matter expertise in relation to gender based violence, including responses to sexual assault and family violence and to communicate, liaise and negotiate with other relevant professionals in this regard.
