Bendigo Foodshare is a Not-for-Profit organisation, governed by a Board of Directors and predominantly staffed by volunteers. They source and donate food to relief agencies and schools across Central Victoria.
Over 200 amazing central Victorian businesses currently donate funds and food to Bendigo Foodshare. Food comes from local businesses and state-wide agencies. Foodshare services are vital. During the current COVID-19 pandemic, the State Government has recognised that the number of people seeking to access their services has grown considerably and that Bendigo Foodshare is an Essential Service.
Bendigo Foodshare services extend across Central Victoria from the city of Bendigo to Kyneton, Castlemaine, Heathcote, Rochester, Echuca, Beaufort, Boort, Girgarre and further afield.

ESE Consulting is proud to be partnering with our client, Bendigo Foodshare, in the search for an outstanding Chief Executive Officer.
The Position
Bendigo Foodshare seeks to appoint a contemporary and entrepreneurial Chief Executive Officer to lead the operations and strengthen food security in communities across Central Victoria.
The Chief Executive Officer will lead the delivery of the organisation’s strategic plan, reducing food poverty in Central Victoria through the provision of food, the development of food skills, and the reduction of barriers and stigma to accessing help. The CEO will hold responsibility for developing a business model to secure long-term sustainability of the organisation.
Duties include the management of financial performance and organisational culture, as well as the provision of high-level advice to the Board. Duties also focus on stakeholder collaboration, workforce planning and improved models of service delivery.
Key position requirements will include:
- Providing vision and leadership for Bendigo Foodshare to reduce food insecurity and improve food skills in Central Victoria
- Developing strong partnerships across industry, government, and community to create and champion new funding, fundraising and commercial opportunities.
- Developing and overseeing effective Social Enterprise Models, Service Models, and systems development.
- In conjunction with the Board, providing strategic guidance for the organisation.
- Financial management, planning and reporting.
- Maintaining a strong and positive culture that is inclusive, supportive, and accountable.
- Continuing to grow community awareness of Bendigo Foodshare’s public profile.
Qualifications and Experience
The successful person will be a visionary and engaging Executive with demonstrated capability in the following areas:
- Extensive experience in providing inspirational leadership, ideally within the community/not-for-profit sector.
- Experience of Fundraising in the not-for-profit sector is preferred.
- Financial skills and business acumen with extensive experience in the preparation of budgets, business plans and funding submissions.
- Bachelor’s degree or Masters in a relevant discipline.
- An entrepreneurial flair with the ability to identify and leverage funding opportunities.
- Evidence of highly developed interpersonal communication, negotiation, and consultative skills.
- Experience in developing and maintaining strategic partnerships and stakeholder relationships.
- Experience working with a Board of Directors.
- Environmentally conscientious and a commitment to social justice.
- Knowledge of food supply chain methods and/or procurement would be highly advantageous.
- Experience working with volunteers will be highly regarded.
