Forensicare is the statutory agency responsible for the provision of adult forensic mental health services across Victoria. This position is located at the Community Forensic Mental Health Service (CFMHS) in Clifton Hill, 15 minutes from Melbourne’s CBD. CFMHS is a specialist state-wide agency that works with individuals who have a serious mental health illness and have offended or are at risk of offending.

About the role

  • Full time, Fixed-Term 6 month contract, SW3, OT3, P3, RPN4
  • Based in Clifton Hill (Currently working remote)

The Community Treatment and Transition Program Senior Mental Mealth Clinician supports a case load of clients on Custodial Supervision Orders who are preparing for, or who have been granted, Extended Leave to reside in the community. The Senior Clinician will also provide support and consultation to clients and staff within Thomas Embling Hospital regarding community transition planning and readiness.

Duties:

  • To provide treatment, case management and supervision for Forensic Patients transitioning upon discharge from Thomas Embling Hospital through their reintegration back into the community
  • To support the Thomas Embling Hospital in effectively planning for and preparing Forensic patients timely and safe transition back into the community

Skills and experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years post qualification experience within Mental Health, preferrably recent experience in community mental health setting
  • Demonstrated experience and competency in conducting mental health and risk assessment
  • Demostrated capacity in planning, implementing, co-ordinating and evaluating complex case management interventions within a recovery framework
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including well developed problem solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent stakeholder liaison and management skills

Mandatory qualifications & registrations:

<Nursing>

  • Postgraduate qualification in Mental Health Nursing or equivalent
  • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulations Agency (AHPRA)

 

<Psychology>

  • Masters or Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from an APS accredited course or equivalent, OR Doctorate degree in Forensic Psychology from an APS accredited course or equivalent.
  • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulations Agency (AHPRA)
  • The successful candidate will be required to register their qualifications on eCredential

 

<Occupational Therapy>

  • Approved degree in Occupational Therapy recognised for membership of OT Australia – Australian Association of Occupational Therapists.
  • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulations Agency (AHPRA)
  • The successful candidate will be required to register their qualifications on eCredential

 

<Social Work>

  • Approved degree in Social Work and eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
