The Organisation

Victorian Aboriginal Child Care Agency (VACCA) is the largest organisation of its kind in Australia, employing more than 600 employees and delivering more than 70 programs across Victoria. VACCA is an Aboriginal community-controlled organisation that supports and advocates for the Aboriginal community. With a focus on ‘healing’, ‘protecting’ and ‘connecting,’ VACCA provides culturally grounded services for Aboriginal children, families, and adults that distinguishes it from mainstream organisations.

The Role

The Executive Manager will take responsibility for overseeing and reviewing service outcomes from a skilled team developing projects and learning responses across Aboriginal child and family policy, Family Violence, Education, and a range of other community service initiatives.  Through dedicated support and guidance to Senior Managers across the VACCA organisation, through governmental stakeholder engagement, business development, procurement tender and contract negotiation, the Executive Manager will also prepare advice and written reports for VACCA’s leadership and actively contribute to positive outcomes across the division.

The Candidate
Reporting to the Director, Client Services Practice and Development with 6 direct reports you will:
  • Demonstrate an awareness and appreciation of Aboriginal societies and cultures, and commitment to continually build knowledge of such, along with a high level of awareness of the key issues which impact upon Aboriginal communities
  • Demonstrate experience in the child, youth and family sectors, the provision of services to statutory clients or a related area, and a sophisticated understanding of current issues within the community service sector
  • Have experience of, or aptitude in, communicating with senior Government officials including negotiating service contracts, performance targets and financial accountability.
  • Possess highly developed leadership, management and team development skills
  • Have acquired a tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline
  • Bring excellent conceptual, strategic and analytical skills
  • Demonstrate an understanding of, and commitment to, the values that underpin VACCA’s vision and purpose and the capacity to take a leadership role in championing these internally and externally
The Offer

The Executive Manager, Capacity Building & Service Reform position is offered on a permanent contract with a salary of up to $147K (including Super). In addition, you will be able to access attractive PBI/NFP salary packaging and remote working options.
