The Fundraising and Philanthropy Unit manages the philanthropic income generation and engagement with donors and philanthropic partners. Continued focus on income diversification and income growth is essential to ensure that Beyond Blue can remain responsive to community needs and enable the fulfilment of their Beyond 2020 strategic goals.

Reporting to the Head of Fundraising and Philanthropy and leading a small team, the Philanthropy Lead is a senior position responsible for the strategic development, management and implementation of engagement and cultivation programs working with Major Individual and Corporate Donors and Corporate Partners. This role will work closely with the Head of Fundraising & Philanthropy to ensure coordinated and integrated approaches to donors to fund major projects and capital appeals for Beyond Blue. You will contribute to the implementation of the Fundraising and Development Strategy and play an active role in creating a new Development Taskforce with members comprising of Beyond Blue Board Directors and key influencers.

This important role requires a strategic, innovative and capable leader who will guide the growth of philanthropy at Beyond Blue, providing operational management of the key philanthropic income streams (Major Donors, Gifts in Wills, Trusts & Foundations and Corporate Partners). You will lead the development, implementation and evaluation of robust strategies for attracting and managing philanthropic relationships, plus personally manage a portfolio of major donors, including prospect research, cultivation, solicitation, acknowledgement and stewardship of philanthropic donors and prospects to maximise their giving and retention levels. It will be important to inspire, motivate, mentor and lead the Philanthropy team to ensure high performance and champion the Culture of Philanthropy in the organisation.

You will be a motivated, committed, resilient and results-driven fundraising leader with proven success working with major donors and securing high value philanthropic gifts. You will have practical understanding of moves management, donor motivations and knowledge of the philanthropic landscape, together with sound communication, stakeholder management, public speaking/presentation and influencing skills. Commercial acumen, problem-solving ability, people leadership and project management skills are required, plus strong alignment and commitment to Beyond Blue’s values. Relevant tertiary qualifications, CFRE, membership of the Fundraising Institute of Australia and an understanding of the mental health sector are highly regarded.
