About the organisation

Organisation Name : The Big Issue in Australia

The Big Issue Australia is an independent not-for-profit organisation that develops and operates a number of social enterprises providing opportunities for those experiencing homelessness and disadvantage to positively change their lives.

They are an agent for social change, using entrepreneurial practices and sound business strategy to promote social inclusion and alleviate poverty in Australia. The Big Issue's innovative programs and services focus on helping people who are socially disadvantaged and may otherwise slip through the cracks, to build confidence and the capacity to help themselves.

This is achieved by using various mechanisms to connect people with the community, such as the Street Magazine Enterprise, the Community Street Soccer Program (Street Soccer), the Women’s Subscription Enterprise and The Big Issue Classroom.

About the role

As the National Marketing and Partnerships Manager you will play a key role in the development and implementation on strategic communications, PR and media marketing strategies (including digital strategy) events and campaigns for The Big Issue magazine, as well as other TBI social enterprises including Homes for Homes.

Reporting to the Chief Communications Officer, you will work collaboratively with the senior leadership team to implement priorities identified in the strategic plan. Given the impact of the pandemic on the organisation, a strong focus will also be on developing new products and opportunities to encourage greater financial support from The Big Issue readership base (beyond the purchasing of the magazine). This includes a greater focus on fundraising and donation initiatives.
