About the opportunity
We are in search of an enthusiastic, experienced and qualified Harm Reduction & Overdose Response Clinician to join our high performing team based in Coburg. The primary focus of the Clinician’s role is to undertake client assessments, provide counselling and care and recovery work and provide overdose information and training for clients and staff of AOD services.
The Overdose Response Program will play an important role in minimising the risk of overdose by working with clients who are at most risk (particularly those entering or exiting residential withdrawal and rehabilitation services where risk may be high). An important part of the role will be the collaborative work with staff of AOD and other agencies that are already working with this client group.
About you
To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have:
- Relevant health and or welfare Tertiary Qualification such as Social Work, Psychology, Nursing or Allied Health Sciences.
- Certificate IV in AOD or have completed the core competencies (or able to complete within the first 24 months of employment.
- Competencies in dual diagnosis (or able to complete within the first 24 months of employment).
- Experience in the provision of harm reduction, assessment, counselling and training services preferably with AOD or dual diagnosis clients.
- Experience in therapeutic approaches such as: Motivational Enhancement Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Coping Skills Training, Family Inclusive Practice, self-help groups and Community Reinforcement Approaches.
